Surrogate tourism in India is "the opposite side of the coin"

Hundreds of couples from different countries come every year to India to cheaply hire a surrogate mother. Here it is only 7,5 thousand dollars, which is 5 times smaller than in USA. India legalized commercial surrogacy in 2002 to develop medical tourism. But is not that easy in this business ... as example the case of twins Nicholas and Leonard Balaz, whose parents - the Germans, and the surrogate mother - a young Indian woman from Gujarat. The boys did not give the nationality of Germany, because it does not recognize their biological parents of the only lawful parents.

(After many trials twins have provided temporary visas to Germany.) India also does not give their nationality to children born to local surrogate mothers. Currently, a draft law on surrogacy, but not the fact that reproductive clinics will implement it, since many believe that the law does not take into account their interests. In any case, it could improve the situation of Indian surrogate mothers and protect their interests at the time of payment and health care. The law also limits the number of surrogate pregnancy for one woman (no more than 5) and age (35 years). The new law defines a new and necessary condition: the country of biological parents must give their nationality to a child born of Indian surrogate mother.
